Watching and Waiting

Written by Lynda Rodabaugh

Waiting is hard, isn’t it friends? Living in a world where things are often “instant” makes waiting feel so difficult at times… yet God calls us to wait on Him!

There’s a medical approach for some conditions known as “watch and wait” that we can learn from. Jesus commands us “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mark 14:38) In times of waiting, we must keep our focus on Jesus, pray and WATCH for God… let’s be looking for where He’s working!

Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” But WAIT-ing isn’t just sitting still… “In Hebrew, the word wait means to faithfully and diligently continue to do what God has called you to today. It’s a proactive word. It’s an action-oriented word” (Adam Bishop). While we are waiting, let’s be doing Father’s work right where we are!

May the Lord give grace, strength and peace in abundance as we actively WATCH and WAIT on Him!
